Newsletter April 2017
Hello Friends and Family,
How time moves so quickly. Before you know it time has passed and we have missed several updates. This is the latest newsletter we received from His Kids Orphanage School even though the date on the letter is Jan 2017. 🙂 As you can see there are lots of improvements going on. Here is the link: Â
However the biggest item currently is not mentioned. That is the drought/famine that has hit this area so hard. While it has finally started to rain again, the planted crops were lost and the newly planted crops won’t be harvested until August. This leaves a long time to be without food. After talking with Apostle Wilson, we have received the following statistics from the ministry:
Every week they purchase the following in Kampala and truck to the village:
450 Kg of Corn Meal
250 Kg of Beans
Cost is about $1300/week US
This feeds about 450-500 students and staff at His Kids Orphanage School.
What this means in reality is that each person gets about 1Kg (about 2 lbs) of corn meal and .5 Kg (about 1 lb) of beans for a WEEK to live on. Â That amount looks something like this for a whole week:
Please consider donating something extra towards the food shortage there, any size gift is appreciated and valued.
We want to thank all of you who have faithfully supported His Kids Orphanage School through the years. We are excited about all that is happening there and are looking forward to exciting things ahead!
