Merry Christmas from Touches Of Hope and His Kids Orphanage Schools
Dear Friends,
it has been another amazing year. It is hard to believe that 2018 is already over and we are ready to start 2019.
Over this past year we have seen God do many amazing things. This year we have seen over 20 students graduate from P7. They all did wonderfully well on their state level graduation exams. We have also seen God provide funds for several critical projects including fencing, a Maize Mill, and had the ability to purchase a surplus of beans and rice while prices were at their lowest. God is truly taking care of His Own.
The fencing project is still moving forward. We were able to raise enough to purchase the fabrication of over 600 metal fence posts. We are in the process of still raising funds for the fencing to enclose the campus, and concrete to set the posts and line underneath the fencing to prevent animals and people from getting underneath the fence. Once we complete the fence around the property, His Kids Schools will qualify for a government program that will provide free seeds for growing crops, and other animals like pigs which can be used to help train the students in raising animals and growing gardens. These skills are very important in providing for their families and will also help provide food for the schools at the same time.
Another key project that was started this year is a Maize Mill on the school property. The Maize Mill is another project that will help raise funds and food for the school while helping serve the community. Each year, the Maize is harvested and then it must be ground in order for it to be used in food. The Maize Mill will provide the grinding service to the local farmers and the payment from the farmer for the service will be a portion of their crop. This way both the community and the school benefit. A special thank you goes to Elya Van Kley and Ross Townsend for raising a significant portion of the funds needed to launch this effort. We still need about $2000 to complete the project. If you are interested in being a part of this effort to help make His Kids more independent and self supporting, please go here http://touchesofhope.com/donate/ to donate and enter “Maize Mill” in the Donation Description box.
The Last critical project was the purchase of surplus beans and rice while the seasonal pricing was at its lowest. Each year, food prices drop as the harvests come in because of the plentiful availability of this much needed produce. A special thank you goes to Marietta Plastic Surgery for their contribution to this project. As a result of their timely generous contribution, His Kids was able to purchase over 4 months of food supply when normally the same amount of money would only purchase about 1 month. We look forward to repeating this process each year as the seasonal prices drop and we are able to make bigger purchases and warehouse the surplus on the His Kids Campus.
We would like to remind anyone interested in contributing donations that any contributions desired for 2018 tax purposes must be made online by midnight Dec 31, 2018. If you wish to write a check please make the check out to Touches Of Hope and have it postmarked by Dec 31, 2018. Our mailing address is here http://touchesofhope.com/contact-us/.
Thank you once again to all our friends who have faithfully supported this mission. God does not take your generosity lightly… Proverbs 19:17 (NLT) “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord — and he will repay you!”
